About the Position
As a Software Development Engineer, you will be a member of a team responsible for continued development of TDR’s (Threat Detection & Response) host sensor & tray application for Windows, Mac OS and Linux. Your expertise will be counted upon to help plan and design solutions for new features as well as quickly remedy any bugs or performance issues. You will report to the TDR Engineering Manager but will participate in a Scrum team for daily tasking. Your contributions directly help WatchGuard customers automatically combat the myriad of malicious threats that come across their networks and computers on a daily basis.
Develop software for WatchGuard Host Sensor (endpoint malware detection and prevention software)
Research new tools, third party software libraries and frameworks as necessary to incorporate them into the product
Document all software developed clearly for ease of maintenance and enhancement
Collaborate with product management, other teams and architects to translate system-level requirements to host sensor specific requirements and design
Collaborate with test team to help them develop test cases as well as resolve defects
Work with customer support teams to help resolve production defects and issues in a timely manner
Must demonstrate a strong work ethic; must be a self-starter

Skills and Qualifications
Excellent communications skills (oral and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Detailed oriented with ability to work independently and meet required goals in a timely manner
Strong coding experience and proficiency in C++ (11, 17) and modern design patterns required
Proficiency with Windows development tools such Visual Studio and knowledge of Windows system internals required
Knowledge of Linux and Mac development (tools and framework) a strong plus
Domain knowledge about endpoint protection or exploits a plus
Hands-on experience with software libraries such as Poco, STL, Google Protobufs, GTest, OpenSSL, SQLLite desired
Good working knowledge of TCP/IP networking
Expertise in computer security considered a plus
Ability to work from 8AM to 5PM on weekdays with occasional overtime in evenings or weekends
Minimum 5 years of experience
Bachelor of Science degree in computer science or other related computer engineering degree
Experience working with Scrum Agile and code review tools such as Crucible
Experience with defect trackers, Atlassian Jira preferred
Experience using continuous integration tools, Jenkins preferred
