 If so, then WatchGuard’s InfraRed team is the place to be! The InfraRed team owns the platform and tools that enable our cloud development teams to build highly available, innovative, scalable and secure distributed solutions in our AWS cloud environments.


Position Responsibilities

As a Cloud Operations Engineer on WatchGuard’s InfraRed team, a “typical” day may have you:

  • Owning all aspects of our AWS infrastructure, monitoring, and developer tools throughout their entire lifecycle including design, security, implementation, management, optimization, and developer support.
  • Driving an operational excellence culture throughout WatchGuard with the simplification, automation, analysis, and evolution of our activities and processes.
  • Championing security and operational best practices to become known as an AWS expert by the rest of our cloud development teams located across the globe.
  • Striving to provide the best possible customer experience even when things go wrong by participating in our on-call rotation then coordinating and leading the production troubleshooting efforts.
  • Performing other duties and projects as assigned 


Skills and Qualifications

  • Proficiency in at least one of the following languages and a desire to learn others: Python, Bash, Go, Java, or Scala.
  • Understanding of cloud technologies, infrastructure, networking, microservice architectures, monitoring, and troubleshooting tools as well as DevOps tools, processes, and culture.
  • Knowledge of cloud operations best practices including chaos engineering, security, source control management, deployment pipelines, testing, and automated self-healing.
  • Knowledge of tools and technologies such as Jenkins, Artifactory, GitHub, Jira, Elasticsearch,
  • Grafana, APMs, Spark, CloudFormation, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, etc
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities as well as verbal and written communication skills.




  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of Systems Engineering/SRE experience in large, distributed environments for a DevOps shop.
